Consumer electronics are on 31 percent of shoppers’ lists going into Black Friday, according to a survey by the Consumer Electronics Association.
The big items are tablets (30 percent expect to purchase), laptops (29 percent), video game consoles (29 percent) and televisions (22 percent).
Overall, shoppers plan to spend an average of $258 each this weekend, according to the survey.
CEA’s study predicts that Black Friday will be the busiest shopping day of the weekend, with 37 percent of those surveyed planning to shop that day.
A slightly smaller group, 35 percent, said they planned to shop on Saturday, followed by 26 percent on Monday.
Only 13 percent plan to shop on Thanksgiving Day, and half of consumers surveyed indicate they think retailers are opening stores too early on Thanksgiving.
CEA plans to release the results from its post-Black Friday survey on Saturday.
