TORONTO – Steve McQueen‘s 12 Years a Slave leads with six nominations for the upcoming Vancouver Film Critics Circle awards.
The 14th edition of the Canadian kudosfest will see McQueen’s no-holds-barred drama vie in the best film, director and screenplay categories.
12 Years a Slave‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor and Inside Llewyn Davis‘ Oscar Isaac will compete against Dallas Buyers Club‘s Matthew McConaughey in the best actor category.
And the best actress nominees are Gravity‘s Sandra Bullock, Blue Jasmine‘s Cate Blanchett and France Ha‘s Greta Gerwig.
Also contending in the best film competition is Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi thriller Gravity and Joel and Ethan Coen‘s Inside Llewyn Davis.
And McQueen, Cuaron and the Coens also will face off in the best director category.
The VFCC awards ceremony will take place Jan. 7 in Vancouver.
