SOUTH LAKE TAHOE —

The South Lake Tahoe community will welcome home the three Olympians from the area with a celebration on Saturday afternoon.

2014 Winter Olympic participants Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman and Hannah Teter will be honored with a 14-mile procession from South Lake Tahoe High School to Sierra at Tahoe Resort, where a celebration event will be held.

Drivers along westbound Highway 50 are advised to expect delays during the procession. Heavy traffic is also expected along the eastbound lanes due to the anticipated early rush of cars into the Sierra parking lots. Once those lots fill up, other vehicles trying to get in will be redirected into Meyers.

California Highway Patrol officers will be there to control the traffic.

The procession will consist of the athletes waving to the crowd while on top of a moving fire truck. People are welcome to wave and cheer as the procession makes its way on Highway 50 through South Lake Tahoe and into Meyers.

Event organizers advise those who will attend to use South Shore Shuttle—free of charge—or carpool early.

Anderson (snowboard style) and Bowman (freestyle skiing halfpipe) both won gold medals in Sochi, Russia. Teter, who won gold in Turino in 2006 and silver in Vancouver in 2010, finished fourth in snowboard halfpipe in Sochi.
