CNN is keeping Anderson Cooper at one hour. After a few months of airing infrequent panel talker AC360 Later, the network has taken Cooper’s second series off the schedule for the foreseeable future.
A CNN rep confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that Thursday’s telecast of AC360 Later was the last one currently planned for the network. AC360 Later, which aired at 10 p.m., was introduced in 2013 as a complement to Cooper’s 8 p.m. standby AC360.

Like several CNN launches in the first year under Jeff Zucker, AC360 Later was something of an experimental series. More relaxed than Cooper’s 8 p.m. telecast, the show also didn’t abide by any official schedule. The show would take off weeks at a time, replaced by CNN’s growing roster of documentaries and repeats of AC360.
Rebroadcasts of the AC360 mothership have long been the occupant of the 10 p.m. slot.
News of the scheduling change does not alter the fact that CNN is decidedly invested in the face of its primetime lineup. Cooper recently renewed his deal with CNN to stay on through the 2016 presidential election.
For now, Cooper’s moonlighting from his 8 p.m. show will be limited to 60 Minutes. The journalist is also a fixture on the CBS News weekly, where he does several pieces a year.
