SACRAMENTO –
A Sacramento jury on Wednesday convicted Leslie Marie McCully of attempted murder for her role a May 2012 shootout in Land Park.
On the day of the shooting, Sacramento Police Officer Randy Van Dusen was attempting to pull over a stolen vehicle occupied by McCully and her boyfriend, Lucus Webb. Webb fired his gun at the officer, injuring Van Dusen’s K-9, Bodie. Van Dusen fired back, killing Webb.
The jury in McCully’s trial decided she played a significant role in influencing Webb’s behavior. In addition to attempted murder, she was convicted of charges involving evading police, receiving stolen property, and posessing a loaded firearm as a felon.
After extensive surgery, Bodie made a full recovery. He lives in retirement with Van Dusen’s family, and gets along well with Van Dusen’s new K-9 partner, Bosko.
