FX has rounded out the cast of its Paul Giamatti comedy pilot Hoke.
John Carroll Lynch (Body of Proof), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), Robert Wisdom (Nashville), Jordi Molla (Bad Boys) and Tammy Blanchard (Guiding Light) have joined the cast of the darkly comedic take on Charles Willeford‘s series of novels Sideswipe, New Hope for the Dead and The Way We Die Now.
STORY: Paul Giamatti Drama Ordered to Pilot at FX
Hoke is the story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hard-boiled and possibly insane homicide detective, Hoke Moseley (Giamatti), in pre-chic Miami circa 1985. Production is set to begin in Miami later this year.
Chaplin plays Ellita Sanchez, a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s new partner. John Carroll Lynch plays Bill Henderson, an old guard Miami PD detective and Hoke’s former partner who is equally as miserable in the recently diversified department. Wisdom is set as Major Brownley, the head of the Miami PD Homicide Squad, who has a long history with Hoke and his antics. Molla plays Armando Zuniga, a sociopathic Cuban who arrives on the shores of Miami in the rumpled, faded clothing of a peasant Cuban refugee and integrates into the city posing as a famous poet of the Cuban people. Blanchard plays Loretta Hickey, the striking mother of a murdered drug addict who Hoke comes across while investigating the case.
The project hails from writer/producer and Academy Award nominee Scott Frank (Out of Sight, Get Shorty) along with executive producers Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential), Carol Fenelon (Too Big to Fail) and Giamatti’s producing partner Dan Carey. In addition to starring, Emmy winner Giamatti, whose Touchy Feely Films inked a two-year, first-look deal with FX Productions at this time last year, will serve as an EP. The drama is being produced in-house at FX Productions.
Chaplin is repped by Troika and Magnolia; Wisdom is with DBA, Kritzer Levine and Fox Rothschild; Molla is with APA and Creative Partners Group in the U.S., repped by Katrina Bayonas of Kuranda Management in Spain and repped by Troika Talent in the U.K.; Blanchard is repped by The Gersh Agency and Soffer/Namoff Entertainmentl and Lynch is repped by Abrams Artists Agency and Suskin Management.
