Authorities have arrested a driver on vehicular manslaughter charges after a tragic accident in Folsom Monday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. at the entrance to Negro Bar State Park, Folsom Police say.

First responders found that four off-duty correctional officers were already tending to an injured motorcyclist. Medics took over life-saving efforts, but the cyclist was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the accident looks to have happened because of a sedan that turned into the path of the motorcycle. The cyclist was thrown from the bike and was hit by a white van.

Police say that the driver of the sedan — 23-year-old Truckee resident Kaman Hobbs — was driving under a suspended license. Hobb’s son was in the car at the time and was also not buckled up correctly.

Hobbs was arrested at the scene and was booked at Sacramento County Jail on vehicular manslaughter, child endangerment and driving with a suspended driver’s license charges. He also violated his probation.
