In what has been an interesting week of jockeying for position, congressional candidate Doug Ose announced this morning the endorsements from four Republican Folsom City Council Members as one of his three opponents coincidentally chose Folsom to formally announce his candidacy this morning for California’s 7th Congressional District.

Ose, who served as a Member of Congress from 1999 to 2005, announced that Folsom Mayor Steve Miklos and City Council Members Jeff Starsky, Andy Morin and Ernie Sheldon have endorsed his candidacy. On Tuesday Ose made his formal candidacy announcement on KFBK's John McGinness radio show.

“Doug Ose has strong ties to the Folsom community, having worked closely with the City to secure Federal funding for the Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge and greater flood protection for the greater Sacramento area,” Folsom Mayor Steve Miklos said in a statement issued today. “But today, our community has an even greater need. We need to send someone to Washington who understands that our country is adrift and our local economy is in need of well paying jobs.”

Ose, along with fellow Republicans Igor Birman and Elizabeth Emken will face incumbent Democratic Dr. Ami Bera in next June's primary. The top two finishers will advance to the November election.
