For the record, shortly after this was posted I did get the Zedboard to show up. It appears the Digilent site's files did not work. The Vivado install failed to install the drivers. It was missing the plugsins for some reason. I edited the install script to skip the plugins and manually installed the plugin from the Digilent site.
Now it works, so maybe I'll have more to say sooner rather than later.
