Fans of Happy Endings, find some solace in syndication. The ABC comedy, which was canceled in May after three seasons, is moving to VH1 later this month.
The cable network announced Tuesday that it has acquired all 57 episodes of Sony Pictures Television’s cult comedy, with a marathon of the series planned for Tuesday, Dec. 31 and running through New Year’s Day.
“Happy Endings is one of our favorite network series, and we consider ourselves lucky to be able to add it to the VH1 lineup,” said VH1 executive vp programming Ben Zurier. “The show’s authentic voice, memorable characters, and smart humor really stands out, and we’re really pleased to be able to provide new platforms for viewers to enjoy it over and over. Lots of times.”
After ABC pulled the plug on Happy Endings, Sony initially shopped it around to a handful of cable networks for an original run elsewhere, but that ultimately never came to fruition.
The cancelation has not been particularly hard on its cast members. Adam Pally and Damon Wayans Jr. both have full-time jobs on The Mindy Project and New Girl, respectively. Eliza Coupe has recurring status on The Millers and a pilot presentation at USA.
Showrunners David Caspe and Jonathan Groff also had a busy development seasons, with the latter working on a comedy project with Happy Endings star Casey Wilson.
Happy Endings will air on VH1, Wednesdays, from 7 to 9 p.m. ET, starting Jan. 8.
