On the heels of its mammoth 20-year deal with The Weinstein Co., Miramax is bolstering its production ranks by tapping Zanne Devine as executive vp production and development.
Reporting to Miramax chairman Thomas Barrack and CEO Steve Schoch, Devine will lead content acquisition, production and development for Miramax, overseeing both film and TV.
For the past three years, Devine has been working with Miramax as a producer and advisor on projects generated by the company’s 750-title film library. Currently, Devine is shepherding a number of high-profile film and TV projects derived from the library including a Gangs of New York TV series; a From Dusk Till Dawn TV series, which is currently in production; and The Ninth Life of Louis Drax, written by Max Minghella.

Additional TV series currently in development under Devine include Mimic from writer John Shiban and The Prophecy from writer-director Gregory Widen.
The volume of projects is expected to grow dramatically, thanks to the Weinstein deal, which covers film, TV and theater. Miramax will finance the development and production of projects covered by the deal, and TWC will distribute domestically. Devine will play a key role in bringing these projects to the screen and stage.
“We are very excited to make Zanne’s relationship with Miramax official as we enter what we believe will be a significant expansionary period for the company,” Barrack said. “Zanne brings tremendous strength as an award-winning film producer and seasoned entertainment executive with passion and vision for current projects and the future of Miramax. We look forward to Zanne’s input and contributions as Miramax commits itself to creating content that supports its return to prominence as a major supplier of new, smart, provocative, quality entertainment.”
Added Devine: “I am thrilled to be working with Tom, Steve and the Miramax team as we build on this already incredible library of titles. It’s an exciting time at Miramax as we continue working to deepen our relationships with the creative community and increasingly focus on bringing new film and television production forward.”
Before working with Miramax, Devine executive produced HBO Films’ Cinema Verite (starring Diane Lane, Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini) and the Emma Stone-starrer Easy A.
As president of production at Beacon Pictures, Devine executive produced The Guardian (Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher), A Lot Like Love (Kutcher, Amanda Peet) and Scott Z. Burns‘ directorial debut, PU-239, for HBO Films.
Before joining Beacon, Devine was president of The Kennedy/Marshall Company, senior vp at PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and vp production and acquisitions at Universal Pictures.
In 2011, Devine co-founded Pacific Northwest Pictures, an independent Canadian distribution company.
