Sony has released a new international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and for those hoping that nothing bad is going to happen to Gwen in this movie — well, you might want to skip this one.
The latest trailer (officially titled “Rise of Electro”) for the summer sequel repeats a lot of footage from previous trailers, with a gravelly, foreboding voiceover from Electro warning “You want to be the hero, now you gotta pay the price.”

In addition to footage of Electro sparkling, zapping and apparently using his electricity powers to pick up really heavy objects (I don’t quite get how that works, but super powers don’t always make sense) we also get the most obvious hint to date that Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) is in trouble in this movie.
Cut against the footage of Gwen falling toward a building while Spider-Man leaps to catch her — complete with a new glimpse at Spider-Man then dropping her inside the building, and catching her again with a web — we hear Andrew Garfield‘s angst-ridden hero ask her, “What if something happens to you because of me?”
Something like … oh, I don’t know, this? (Spoiler, to anyone who clicks through and doesn’t know Spider-Man’s comic book history.)
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2. Watch the new trailer below.
