The Bachelor took a few minutes ahead of Sunday night’s season premiere to pay tribute to former contestant Gia Allemand, who died in August after an apparent suicide attempt.
The two-and-a-half-minute video featured former contestants sharing their memories of Allemand interspersed with footage from her time on the show.
“She was the most stunning, sort of fun-sized girl that seemed to just have it all,” season 14 contestant Ashleigh said of Allemand. “She was kind of a real girl. She had insecurities, she was worried about love,” she later added.

Allemand was found by her boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson, after she tried to kill herself. Anderson tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate her and Allemand died the next day, after being taken off life support.
Bachelorette season six contestant Jason recalled, “It’s amazing how many friends she had and how many people actually cared about her. And I know she knew that.”
Allemand was shown on dates with bachelor Jake Pavelka, talking about how many kids she wants — and how she also wants a pot-bellied pig. Footage also aired of her running through a vineyard with Pavelka and laughing, as Ashleigh recalled that Allemand’s “laugh was infectious.”
The tribute ended with a clip of her laughing after she misspoke during an interview.
The two-night season premiere of The Bachelor continues Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
