Sky Vision, BSkyB’s international distribution arm, has inked a development deal with Los Angeles-based Ugly Brother Studios to develop, produce and distribute unscripted programming and formats.
Through the pact, Sky Vision will help create programming with international and U.S. appeal.
Ugly Brother was founded by twin brothers Mike and Tim Duffy last year, with its first projects including MTV’s upcoming House of Food and a three-project development deal set up at Spike TV.
“The strength of our relationships in the American market combined with the international muscle of Sky Vision makes this a truly unique and powerful partnership,” said Mike and Tim Duffy in a joint statement.
Adds Jane Millichip, managing director at Sky Vision: “This deal gives both parties the opportunity to create exciting and commercially relevant programming on an international scale. Our aim is to deliver the very best in programming and formats developed in conjunction with Ugly Brother for international broadcasters.”
Prior to launching Ugly Brother, Mike Duffy held executive positions at T Group Productions, Electus and was head of development at Zodiak USA. He has executive produced Storage Hunters, Invention USA, Mystery Diners, Container Wars, A Michael Buble Christmas and Hardcore Pawn.
Tim Duffy was senior vp original series at Spike TV, developing and producing series targeting the male audience. He was behind Auction Hunters, Ink Master, Bar Rescue, MANswers, Deadliest Warrior, Pros vs. Joes and 1000 Ways to Die.
