A mysterious bandit is turning Greendale Community College upside down.
In this week’s Community, students and professors are up in arms over a faceless criminal running around campus. The culprit’s crime? Dropping coins down people’s pants. He or she is lovingly referred to as the Ass-Crack Bandit. (At Greendale, it’s a serious offense.) So Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) does what any logical person would do — he recruits anyone and everyone to help bring the bandit to justice.

But not everyone is 100 percent behind Dean Pelton’s methods. In a first look at the Jan. 9 episode, which The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts, Annie (Alison Brie) gets the shaft after she confronts Dean Pelton about his politics. When Jeff (Joel McHale) tells Annie to “take it easy,” Annie scoffs, “Taking it easy is how Troy ended up with a quarter of a buck in his crack.”
Annie is so fed up with how Greendale conducts its business that she gets riled up just talking about the Greendale criminal. To make matters worse, Jeff simply doesn’t care. That is, until Annie guilt-trips him into helping with her rogue investigation.

Community airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
