Investigation Discovery has greenlighted a new series focusing on Stepford wives, teamed with talk-show host Wendy Williams and renewed newsmagazine Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall.
The Discovery-owned network will premiere the 12-episode Secret Lives of Stepford Wives with a one-hour debut on Tuesday, April 8 at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Stepford Wives will reveal the dirty laundry of real housewives desperate to cover up their deception, adultery, and greed in order to project a flawless family life.
“Every community has that one devastatingly attractive alpha-female with the Bergdorf-blonde hair and effortless charm that men love and other women love to hate,” said Henry Schleiff, group president of Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Military Channel. “Secret Lives of Stepford Wives reveals the ugly truth behind pretty women whose lives are all wine and roses, until someone discovers the skeletons in their walk-in closet.”
Stepford Wives is produced by Sharp Entertainment. Matt Sharp is an executive producer and Rebecca Bruno is co-executive producer.
The cable network has also set a week of programming, “Forget You Week,” kicking off Friday, Feb. 7, at 8 p.m., timed to Valentine’s Day. The Williams-hosted one-hour special 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover will serve as the centerpiece program, airing Feb. 14 at 10 p.m.
Deadline: Crime, hosted by MSNBC and NBC News’ Tamron Hall, also has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere in spring 2014. The series is produced by NBC News’ production arm, Peacock Productions.
