A California judge has approved a request from Amanda Bynes‘ parents to extend the troubled actress’ psychiatric hold for up to two weeks.
Placed on 72-hour hold Monday, Bynes, 27, was scheduled to leave the hospital on Thursday. The same day, her parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, were granted their request to have her stay extended, E! News reports.
At a court hearing Friday, the pair will request temporary conservatorship over their daughter’s well-being following disturbing and erratic behavior that resulted in her current hospitalization. The actress was taken in for mental evaluation after setting a fire — using a can of gasoline — in the driveway of a home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where she grew up.
Bynes, according to reports, has been “showing signs of schizophrenia.” In the past year, the formerly squeaky-clean child star — now notorious for her run-ins with the law — has unraveled in the public eye. Since April 2012, she has been arrested for drunk driving, two hit-and-runs and criminal possession of marijuana.
