David Wnendt, the German director behind envelope-pushing Sundance sensation Wetlands, has signed with Resolution for representation.
The signing was made in a competitive environment as many agencies and management companies were chasing Wnendt, with the process beginning right after the movie’s first screening in the Temple Theatre in Park City.
Sexually explicit, audacious and infused with a Trainspotting-like vibe of energetic pop sensibility, Wetlands is a German-language coming-of-age drama about a young woman with an unhealthy and fetishistic obsession with certain body parts (and bodily fluids). When an anal fissure sends her to a hospital, she tries to get her emotionally distant father and mother back together, hits on her male nurse, and devises ways to stay in the hospital.

The movie, filled with flashbacks and flashforwards, stars Carla Juri and is an adaptation of a German best-seller by Charlotte Roche.
Wnendt is the son of a diplomat and grew up in cities such as Islamabad, Miami and Brussels. He graduated in business administration and journalism from Berlin Free University, took a one-year film course at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and attended Film and Television University “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
He won an award at the International Short Film Festival interfilm Berlin in 2006 for his short film California Dreams and made his feature debut with Combat Girls, which won three German film awards in 2012.
He is repped by United Agents in the UK and continues to be repped by Hemma Heine in Germany.
