Sonora Police arrested two people Friday after a car reported to have been stolen was found in front of the county courthouse.

According to a report from the Sonora Police Department, a dealership in Redding say they used GPS to track a 2001 Mitsubishi that had been stolen off the lot. The car was tracked to the Tuolumne County Superior Court, but with different plates.

Police say Teresa Castillo, 45, told officers that her husband bought the car for $200 a day earlier in Redding so that they could make it to a court appearance.

Castillo’s husband, 49-year-old James Manning, eventually admitted to police that he knew the car had been stolen, according to investigators.

Manning was at the court for a drug charge.

Police say meth, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were found in the Mitsubishi. Both Manning and Castillo were taken into custody on charges of possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
