TORONTO — Eugene Levy is reuniting with SCTV alum Catherine O’Hara on a new comedy, Schitt’s Creek, for the CBC.
The 13-episode sitcom also teams Levy with his son, Dan Levy, as part of their new production shingle, Not a Real Company Productions.
Schitt’s Creek, created by Eugene and Dan Levy, also stars Chris Elliott and will shoot in and around Toronto this spring.
The Canadian comedy will see Eugene Levy play a video store billionaire with a soap star wife (O’Hara) and their two kids: a hipster son (Dan Levy) and a socialite daughter. As a family, they discover they are broke and forced to rebuild their lives in a rural town called Schitt’s Creek.
“I’m just so proud to be doing this show back here in Canada,” said Eugene Levy in a statement on Monday.
The Canadian funnyman has also starred in other recent Canadian comedies, including Package Deal for City and Working the Engels, which bows on Global Television next month.
Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, Fred Levy, Andrew Barnsley and Ben Feigin will executive produce the homegrown comedy.
