Coleman Breland has been promoted to president of Turner Network Sales, overseeing the domestic distribution sales and marketing of Turner networks including TNT, TBS, CNN, truTV, TCM and Cartoon Network. The news was announced Tuesday by Turner Broadcasting System president David Levy, following Levy’s own promotion in August.
“Coleman is an outstanding and strategic executive who has strong relationships across the media and distribution landscape,” said Levy. “He has a long track record of innovation and execution in generating new revenue opportunities for our leading portfolio of brands, which continually elevates our distribution business.”
Breland has been COO of TNS since 2009. From 2003 to 2009 he served as executive vp sales and marketing, after joining Turner in 1999 as senior vp sales and marketing.
Levy also announced the promotion of Richard Warren to executive vp negotiations and strategy and associate general counsel, and Jennifer Mirgorod to executive vp brand distribution. Both will report to Breland. Warren will now oversee Turner’s distribution deals for domestic cable television networks as well as manage the strategic planning, operations and distribution technology groups within TNS.
Mirgorod’s expanded role will include oversight of the affiliate marketing department as well as Turner Private Networks, while she continues leading the account management team in developing strategic content distribution and marketing initiatives for Turner’s networks serving distribution partners in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She is also responsible for deal-renewal strategy for TNS as well as expanding linear content distribution opportunities and developing new business models between Turner and the North American multichannel video providers.
“Rich and Jennifer are tremendous leaders — they possess a powerful combination of strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills and creativity that allows them to shine in their roles,” said Breland. “Their extensive experience, industry relationships and outstanding leadership capabilities allow for the continued growth of our business while driving forward the value of our portfolio.”
Turner is a division of Time Warner.
