BUENOS AIRES — UFC‘s reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), is kicking off a call for participants Wednesday for its Latin American version, which will be available in 19 countries.
The announcement was made in Las Vegas by Jaime Pollak, UFC’s senior vp of international development Latin America. “We will search for the finest talents. The ingredient the winner must have is to show he’s the best and that he will be able to fight in UFC,” he said.
The show will be available through UFC’s 24-hour network UFC Network, and will gather up 60 fighters from all countries of Latin America. They will be divided in two groups and eliminate each other until only two finalists are left to fight for the big prize: a contract with UFC. Fighting coaches will be Spanish-speaking fighters, to be confirmed shortly.

“We want to produce the best show for Latin America, and spread throughout the region,” said Pollack. He also added the aim is to replicate UFC’s popularity in Brazil.
The show will be shot in Las Vegas, with the same quality standards as the U.S. version. It will be broadcasted in UFC Network through Televisa and other cable services to distribute the show across the region.
“We want the word to spread around so everyone finds out this will happen in Latin America, and to find the next Ultimate Fighter. The U.S. version is in its 20th season now, becoming the longest-running reality show, and we know Latin America has lots of fighters to show,” added Pollack.
UFC produces over 33 live events per year and is the biggest Pay-Per-View provider in the world. Live events from UFC Network have been broadcasted by LatAm open-air channels Televisa Canal 5 (Mexico), Caracol TV (Colombia), Teleamazonas (Ecuador), America TV (Peru), and América TV (Argentina), as well international networks like Globo TV and Globosat (Brasil).
