The first look at David O. Russell‘s American Hustle pairs the leads of Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter for a crime thriller.
The teaser for the film — starring Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence — showcases little of the plot, but firmly establishes the mood of 1970s-era decadence (“Only in America,” reads the trailer’s titles).
STORY: David O. Russell’s Next Film to Hit Theaters in December
Set to Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times, Bad Times,” the clip reveals Bale as a con artist and Adams as his accomplice while Jeremy Renner plays a New Jersey state assemblyman. Robert De Niro and Louis C.K. also feature in the film.
The drama, originally titled American Bullshit, is based on a 1980 FBI sting involving lawmakers. The film, shot in part in Boston, temporarily suspended production in April during the manhunt for the marathon bombers.
The title is slated for release on Dec. 13.
