My MacBook Air is Stolen and i am not registered to iCloud, but my Apple id is registered to my MAC how can i track my Laptop.???

I have got the serial number of my MAC and have complained to Local police.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I've had a similar situation like this. What i did was i logged onto icloud.com, using the Apple ID that was connected to the mac, and clicked on "Find My iPhone" and clicked on the device that was stolen. If the device is connected to the internet, you can find its location. it dosent just work for the iphone, it works for iPhones, iPads and i think MacBooks as well.
