Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have called off their engagement, reps for both stars confirm to People.
The pair met while shooting their 2010 film The Last Song and got engaged in May 2012. No wedding date was ever set, but in April of this year they reportedly postponed making it official.
Cyrus and Hemsworth were last seen together Aug. 8 on the red carpet for his film Paranoia. She was wearing her engagement ring. Since then, Cyrus caused an uproar over her racy MTV VMA performance and released a provocative music video for new single “Wrecking Ball.”
Have they broken up for good? Who knows, but People reports that the two have been living separate lives as they promote their respective projects: new album Bangerz for her and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for him.
It’s a glum start to what may end up being one of the biggest weeks of Cyrus’ career. The singer is poised to score her first No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Wrecking Ball” following massive fan response to the track’s video.
