CBS has picked up its eighth comedy pilot of the season, greenlighting a family comedy from the producers of Friends and Seinfeld.
Multicamera Warner Bros. Television comedy The Mistake revolves around a couple who just “finished” raising their kids but discovers that they’re going to have a baby.
The Mistake hails from Shana Goldberg-Meehan (Friends, Joey), David Mandel (Seinfeld) and Scott Silveri (Friends, Matthew Perry starrer Go On), who will pen the script and executive produce alongside Andy Ackerman (Seinfeld, Go On), who will also direct.

CBS originally picked up the comedy — from Silver and Gold Productions as well as Woltz International Pictures — with a hefty pilot production commitment in October. It marks the first collaboration for married duo Goldberg-Meehan and Silveri since they co-created Friends spinoff Joey. Mandel, meanwhile, is a regular collaborator with Seinfeld co-creator Larry David and most recently executive produced Clear History as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm.
This marks CBS’ eighth comedy pilot order of the year, four shy of its 2013 haul but on par with its 2012 slate. Mistake also marks CBS’ latest family comedy pickup, joining The McCarthys, More Time With Family, Good Session and the Jim Gaffigan semi-autobiographical entry.
