YOLO COUNTY—

Authorities are saying that the strong smell of marijuana emanating from a car eventually led to the arrest of three people Saturday morning.

According to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy walked up to three people sitting in a car at the Cache Creek Casino parking garage. While talking to the trio, the deputy reportedly could smell marijuana coming from the car.

The deputy also saw a green, leafy substance in plain view.

A search of the car soon uncovered 2.24 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. But, 8.83 grams of meth was also found, sheriff’s say.

The three – 57-year-old Suisun City resident Joseph Martin Fitzgerald, 52-year-old Fairfield resident Robert Alan Zakareckis and 32-year-old Suisuin City resident Conception Cardenas – were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Fitzgerald and Zakareckis also face charges of possession of a controlled substance.

All three have been booked at the Yolo County Jail.
