Its all about fall in coming attraction land.
Eight of the top 10 most viewed trailers on YouTube for the week ending Sept. 15 were for fall and winter movies, according to online monitoring service Zefr.
One summer holdover was Fast & Furious 6, which was the fifth-most-watched trailer of the week, racking up 1.1 million views. The movie’s No. 1 trailer has now been viewed more than 136 million times since its release in February.
Leading the top 10 for the second week in a row was RoboCop (trailer No. 1) with 4.7 million views. Its two-week total stands at 20.9 million YouTube views.
The film stars Joel Kinnaman as the cyborg officer, Abbie Cornish as his embattled wife and Gary Oldman (perfectly cast) as the evil scientist. It opens in February.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (trailer No. 2) held the second spot with 3.2 million views for the week to increase its total to 10 million since the coming attraction went online on July 21.
300: Rise of an Empire held the third spot with 1.6 million views for the week and 27.5 million lifetime.
The only newcomer in the top 10 was Grudge Match‘s first trailer which debuted to 1.4 million YouTube views to land in the fifth spot. The comedy about two aging boxers (Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone) who square off in one final bout opens Christmas Day.
Riddick‘s trailer No. 1 (842,625/18.9 million), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug‘s international trailer No. 1 (839,614/29.2 million), 47 Ronin’s trailer No. 1 (809,013/8.4 million) and We’re the Millers’ trailer No. 2 (754,354/13.3 million) held the sixth through ninth spots (with Millers being the other summer holdover).
The Hobbit, 47 Ronin and We’re the Millers were all outside the top 10 last week, clocking in at 11th, 15th and 12th, respectively.
Gravity fell to No. 10 from the second spot this week, notching 660,467 views for a lifetime total of just 3.4 million. The Sandra Bullock starrer, which has garnered rave reviews and some early Oscar buzz, opens Oct. 4.
