FRESNO-

Two CHP officers have died in a crash along Highway 99.

The officers were responding to an accident along Highway 99 south of Fresno when they were involved in another accident.

CHP says both officers died in the crash. It happened around 6 a.m. Monday.

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened, and tell FOX40 it is not clear if anyone else was involved in the crash with the CHP officers. Initial reports indicate the officers may have lost control of their car and hit the guard rail, according to officers onscene.

They are also looking into the first accident that brought the officers to that area.

Highway 99 is closed at Mountain View in the town of Kingsburg as the investigation into these accidents continue.
