USA Network‘s Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair‘s Playing House has invited a roster of all-stars to pop in for a visit to the upcoming comedy.
Playing House is a buddy comedy that looks at what happens when two best friends come back together, just when they need each other most. Much like the short-lived NBC series Best Friends Forever, the single-camera half-hour is inspired by the ultra-close friendship between St. Clair and Parham. Here, when mother-to-be Maggie (Parham) discovers that her husband is having an online affair with a muscular German woman, Emma (St. Clair) gives up her burgeoning business career in China to stay in their hometown and help Maggie raise her baby.
STORY: USA Orders Jessica St. Clair, Lennon Parham Comedy Series
Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Lindsay Sloane (Horrible Bosses), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), Ian Roberts (Upright Citizen Brigade co-founder), Andy Daly (Eastbound & Down) and John Lutz (30 Rock) have all been slated to guest-star in the series, which will bow in the spring.
Moynihan will play Danny, a self-conscious cop; Sloane is set as Tina, Mark’s (Keegan-Michael Key of Key and Peele) high-strung wife; Mantzoukas will portray CJ, Maggie’s high school crush; Roberts boards as Ian, a local cop who went to high school with Maggie, Emma and Mark; Daly joins as Gary, Maggie’s charming divorce lawyer; and Lutz is Rodney, a band geek who has secretly been in love with Emma since high school.
They join Malcolm in the Middle alum Jane Kaczmarek, who has a multiple-episode arc playing Gwen, Emma’s opinionated mother.
St. Clair and Parham executive produce the Universal Cable Productions entry alongside Scot Armstrong (Old School, Hangover 2), Judah Miller (King of the Hill) and Ravi Nandan (Hesher) of American Work.
