CITRUS HEIGHTS —

Citrus Heights police have arrested 25-year-old Joshua Philip Lowery for the October killing of Christopher Sorgani.

Lowery was in court today to face a charge of murder. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail, earlier today.

On Oct. 23, just after 6:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an assault which occurred on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of Greenback Lane.

They found the Sorgani, 49, with serious head injuries. He died four days later.

Police said Sorgani had gotten off work at the Employment Development Department office in downtown at 5 p.m. the day he was attacked and had taken a combination of buses and light rail home to Citrus Heights.

A witness reported seeing Sorgani being struck by another man on the sidewalk in front of the Spring Creek Apartments, near Greenback Lane. The suspect was described as white, in his 20s, about 5-foot-9, with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.

Police said in a press release Friday that help from the news media in reporting on the case led citizens to provide important information to detectives. The information led to Lowery`s arrest.
