San Joaquin County authorities announced Sunday that a body had been found in the Mokelumne River.

The disturbing discovery was found by a fisherman out along the river late Saturday morning, near a rail road trestle. The area is about 200 yards north of the intersection of the river and Awani Drive, sheriff’s note.

A sheriff’s office boat was able to pull the body out of the water. Authorities note that the death is being investigated as suspicious.

An official cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology results, the sheriff’s office notes.
