Jessica Alba has been cast in The Wright Girls, which Kevin Connolly will direct.
Bert V. Royal (Easy A) wrote the script for the project, which Highland Film Group (HFG) will introduce to buyers at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.
The story — inspired by Japanese film 2LDK — follows two sitcom co-stars, Kate and Vanessa, who are also roommates. They discover that they are both up for the same coveted role in a film and go from best friends to worst enemies over the course of one action-packed night. Production is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2014 in Los Angeles.
Atlas Entertainment’s Alex Gartner joins William Green and Aaron Ginsburg of Atlas Independent to produce.
The project would reunite Connolly with Alba, whom he directed in indie Dear Eleanor. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Jessica again and reimagine this great story for a new audience,” said Connolly in a statement. “It’s been great working with everyone at Atlas as we gear up for production.”
Alba’s upcoming projects include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Barely Lethal. She’s repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
