Marc Buhaj has been appointed Disney XD‘s senior vp programming and general manager, the kids cable network announced Monday.
Buhaj moves from Disney Television Animation, where he was most recently senior vp international original series and co-productions, and succeeds David Levine, who transitioned to vp programming, production and strategic development for Disney Channels Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In his new position, Buhaj will be responsible for continuing Disney XD’s growth in the U.S. He will oversee strategic multiplatform programming and scheduling and will work with the programming team to identify acquisition and co-production opportunities. Buhaj also will support Disney XD channels internationally in content development and programming acquisitions.
“Marc has an expansive background in kids TV, spanning programming strategy, content creation and global acquisitions,” said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. “He is a fresh, innovative thinker who will bring new insights onto our team as we continue to build the Disney XD brand.”
Buhaj will report to Sean Cocchia, senior vp business operations and general manager at Disney Channels Worldwide, and Paul DeBenedittis, senior vp programming strategy at Disney Channels Worldwide.
Buhaj joined the Disney family in 2007 and held several senior executive positions: senior vp programming at Jetix Europe and senior vp original programming at Disney Channels EMEA, among them. He also has worked at Turner Entertainment Networks Asia and Seven Network in Australia.
