Billy Corgan is suing a Los Angeles-based distributor, alleging he was not properly paid for revenues from his music.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman says he signed a deal effective Jan. 1, 2010, giving Rocket Science, Inc. Skyrocket Holdings, LLC and its principal Kevin Day exclusive rights to distribute some of his recordings. Around September 2011, the company allegedly stopped providing Corgan with accounting for revenues derived from his songs.
According to the suit, Day did not observe standard business practices, such as maintaining separate bank accounts. The suit goes on to charge Day with using business funds to pay for his personal expenses.
Corgan is suing for breach of contract, with the suit saying the amount cannot be determined without an accounting of Day’s receipts and expenses related to the music in question.
Day did not immediately respond to request for comment.
