Thirtysomething three-time Emmy winner Patricia Wettig is headed for the CW, while FX’s Jay Baruchel comedy has enlisted a trio including Eric Andre and WGN America’s Manhattan has booked a Newsroom player.
Wettig will co-star in The CW’s terrorism drama Identity, from writer/EP Corinne Brinkerhoff (The Good Wife). The drama centers on a young woman (The Help‘s Ahna O’Reilly) in need of a transplant who learns she is related to a powerful family whose son (Hellcats‘ Matt Barr) is her only hope for a donor organ. The CIA approaches her to investigate the family’s involvement in domestic terrorism and to infiltrate their rarified world. Her loyalty, morality and ethics are tested as she’s forced to slowly build a case against the family who saved her life.
Wettig will play Liana Grant, the matriarch of one of the country’s wealthiest and most powerful families, which includes her son Davis (Barr). Wettig, repped by Innovative and Jackoway Tyerman, also starred on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters, Prison Break and Alias. She joins a cast that also includes Stephen Hagen, Mehcad Brooks and Manish Dayal in the drama from exec producers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya. Gary Fleder directs the pilot.

On FX’s Man Seeking Woman, from creator Simon Rich and EP Lorne Michaels, Andre, Britt Lower and Maya Erskine have been added as series regulars on the comedy based on Rich’s book The Last Girlfriend on Earth. The comedy centers on the sweet and absurd look at the life and death stakes of dating. Andre (The Eric Andre Show, Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23) will play Mike, Josh’s (Baruchel) cocky best friend. Lower (Unforgettable) is set as Liz, Josh’s intimidating sister; and Erskine (Betas) will portray Maggie, the ex-girlfriend who broke Josh’s heart. Andre is repped by CAA, Mosaic and Cohen & Gardner; Lower is with Paradigm, Kristen Ames and Jackoway Tyerman; and Erskine is with Gersh.
On WGN America’s atomic bomb drama Manhattan, Newsroom‘s David Harbour will recur as Reed Akley, the golden boy at Los Alamos and the leader of the staff of 600 scientists. John Benjamin Hickey stars in the drama from writer Sam Shaw and director Thomas Schlamme. Harbour recently completed filming Universal’s feature A Walk Among the Tombstones and Sony’s The Equalizer. He’s repped by ICM Partners, Authentic Talent and Peikoff Mahan.
