TWC-Dimension, the genre label run by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, is bringing Broadway thriller Veronica’s Room to the big-screen.
The company will finance, distribute and exec produce the adaptation of the 1973 play by Ira Levin, the author who also wrote Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives.
Daniel Dubiecki, who exec produced Juno and Up In the Air, and Lara Alameddine are producing via their Allegiance Theater banner. The duo brought the project to TWC-Dimension, after optioning the rights.

The twist-and-turn-filled story centers on a woman named Susan who, along with her boyfriend, is asked to come to an old New England mansion being cared for by an older couple. The pair insist that Susan looks like Veronica, the long-dead sister of a woman who still lives in the mansion. The caretakers say that seeing Susan will comfort the dementia-beset resident of the mansion. Soon Susan is not only wearing Veronica’s clothes — she is trapped in the house, and trapped in the role.
Bob Weinstein called the project “a hidden gem that is going to reintroduce Ira’s genius to a new generation. It will also provide a fantastic opportunity for top tier actors and actresses to embody Ira Levin’s fascinating, complicated characters.”
Allegiance Theater’s Tim Crane will executive produce while the company’s head of development, Carly Norris, will co-produce.
