Lifetime is giving a global premiere to an upcoming original movie.
Return to Zero, starring Minnie Driver, will be the cable network’s first telepic to get a simultaneous international rollout when it premieres Saturday, May 17. In addition to the U.S., where it will air at 8 p.m., The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Return to Zero will also bow on Lifetime channels in Canada, the U.K., Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and other yet-to-be-announced territories.
“Every once in a while, a film comes along that has the power to make a difference in the lives of others. Return to Zero is that powerful and moving story that so many people around the world who have faced similar challenges can relate to,” said A+E Networks senior vp international programming and production Christian Murphy. “We felt it very important to present this moving film with such incredible performances from A-list stars as the first global premiere for Lifetime.”
Starring Driver, Paul Adelstein, Alfred Molina, Connie Nielsen, Sarah Jones, Andrea Anders and Kathy Baker, Return to Zero is based on writer-director-producer Sean Hanish‘s own experiences. In it, a couple (Driver and Adelstein) are forced to deal with the aftermath of a late-term stillbirth and the stress it puts on their relationship and their second pregnancy.
Return to Zero is produced by Cannonball Productions, with Paul Jaconi-Biery also producing and Kelly Kahl serving as executive producer. A+E Networks is handling global sales.
The project comes at something of a banner year for Lifetime movies. The network hit ratings highs in January with the premieres of Flowers in the Attic, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax and The Gabby Douglas Story.
