Jesse Bongiovi, son of Bon Jovi leader Jon Bon Jovi, will miss all of Notre Dame’s football season this fall due to a torn anterian cruciate ligament in the knee.
ESPN.com’s Matt Fortuna reported the news on his Twitter feed, and cited Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly as a source.
Bongiovi, 19, made the team last summer. The freshman, a walk-on cornerback, recorded one tackle in a December game against New Jersey’s Rutgers University in a winning game.
“He’s a tough kid,” Kelly told csnchicago.com last August. “The kids really like him. They respect him. They don’t look at him as a rock star’s son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team.”
