Officers say this man painted himself in an attempt to hide after a chase.

MODESTO-

Police in Modesto say a man wanted for auto theft tried painting his face and arms to hide from officers after being on the run for more than an hour Wednesday night.

The chase began in Merced County, according to officers. Spike strips were eventually deployed, which reportedly led the wanted man to the area of Ashford Court and College Avenue in Modesto.

Police say the man was found hiding – painted black – in a nearby shed.

Officers were able to track the man down using heat-detection technology aboard their helicopters.
