Paleo menu at JAX in Truckee: “Tahoe’s most paleo-friendly restaurant”

The Paleo Diet — also known as the Caveman or Stone-Age diet — was the most searched-for diet of the year on Google, thanks to its growing popularity among both mainstream eaters and bodybuilders and CrossFitters alike.

Centered on commonly available modern foods, the contemporary “Paleolithic diet” consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, eggs, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, refined sugar and processed oils.

Nevada City resident Pauli Halstead has written a cookbook Primal Cuisine: Cooking for the Paleo Diet. “Sourcing ingredients is the fun part,” Pauli said in an interview. “In Nevada City, where I live, we have Nevada County Free Range beef produced by Jim Gates.”

Now Jax at the Trax in Truckee, has a Paleo Menu in conjunction with Crossfit Jibboom, a registered Crossfit affiliate fitness and training center in downtown Truckee. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

Housed in an original 1940s diner next to Truckee’s downtown railroad tracks, JAX offers honest food with a twist. Think decadent comfort food. Classic diner fare is featured on its menu, alongside innovative offerings. We regularly feature JAX in our magazine.

“JAX is the most paleo friendly restaurant I have encountered in the Tahoe area to date,” according to the blog, TahoePaleo.com. “This is a no brainer option if you are in downtown Truckee and want a paleo or GF (gluten-free) option.”
