American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, Lee Daniel’s The Butler, Prisoners and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa all won awards in the feature categories at the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards on Saturday at the Paramount Studios Theatre.
The hairstylists behind The Butler took the category for best contemporary hair styling, and American Hustle, for best period and/or character hair styling.
The makeup artists from Prisoners won best contemporary make-up, and Dallas Buyers Club won for best period and/or character make-up. Additionally, best special make-up effects was awarded to the Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa team.

Dallas Buyers Club and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa are nominated for the Oscar for makeup and hairstyling, along with The Lone Ranger.
In the television categories Behind the Candelabra won two awards. It nabbed the hair styling and make-up awards in the TV miniseries or movie made for TV categories.
During the ceremony, Johnny Depp received the Distinguished Artisan Award, which was presented by Joel Harlow.
Dick Smith — who won an Honorary Academy Award in 2012 and an Oscar for Amadeus — was honored with the Make-Up Artists Lifetime Achievement Award. Smith was unable to attend, so presenter Rick Baker accepted on his behalf. Gail Ryan, an Oscar winner for How the Grinch Stole Christmas, received the Hair Stylists Lifetime Achievement Award.
