Fox won Wednesday evening among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic with the help of a small American Idol uptick. Idol‘s top 12 performance show was on par in viewership with 10.5 million total viewers and up 4 percent in the 18-49 demo with a 2.7 rating.
Meanwhile, CBS’ primetime lineup see-sawed. Survivor (9.6 million, 2.4) matched last week’s season low, while Criminal Minds (11.4 million, 2.6) rose 18 percent after last week’s 10 p.m. run. CSI (9.2 million, 1.7) dropped 15 percent from its last original in mid-February. CBS placed second on the night with an average 10.1 million viewers and 2.2 rating.
The majority of ABC’s scripted lineup saw increases, with The Middle (7.1 million, 1.9), Suburgatory (5.6 million, 1.7), Modern Family (9 million, 3.3) and Nashville (4.8 million, 1.4) — with Suburgatory seeing the biggest jump with a 21 percent boost. Freshman comedy Mixology was the lone ABC show to see a dip, averaging 4.5 million and a 1.6. ABC placed third on the evening with an average 6 million and 1.9 rating. Modern Family was the evening’s top-rated broadcast.
NBC’s Law & Order: SVU (6 million, 1.6) dropped 20 percent, while Chicago P.D. (6.1 million, 1.5) hit a series low with a 32 percent drop. Revolution (4.8 million, 1.3) opened the night with a series low. NBC averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 1.5.
The CW saw double-digit drops with Arrow (2.2 million, 0.7) and The Tomorrow People (1.3 million, 0.4) hitting lows.
