CITRUS HEIGHTS–

Citrus Heights Police are still looking for a suspect who brutally beat and killed a disabled man walking home last Wednesday.

It happened on Greenback Lane near Birdcage Street.

Christopher Sorgani, 48, had just gotten off the bus around 6:30 p.m. when, for no reason, someone walked up and began beating him.

Sorgani was put on life support as a result of the attack and died four days later.

While two witnesses ran to Sorgani’s rescue, they said the suspect got away before they could stop him.

Sorgani was a well-known man who was described as loving and gentle.

“He has always helped people with disabilities. He has always helped people with head injury. He is loved in this community everybody loves him,” said Sorgani’s sister, Deborah Sorgani.

Sorgani said her brother had a masters degree and recently married the love of his life.

Police have a vague description of the suspect and are asking the public for their help. There is a reward for anyone who had information leading to the suspects arrest.

“I would say he was the nicest guy I ever knew here,” said neighbor Justin Dingman.

“I was really sad that my neighbor who I have known for 12 years was brutally beaten. It is just senseless, very senseless,” said another neighbor Kristen Dingman

Police combed the area where the attack happened Tuesday, talking to bus drivers and riders, hoping someone could remember something out of the ordinary.
