MODESTO –

Modesto firefighters rescued an elderly man from a burning home on Monday morning. He was alert and responsive after being resuscitated, and is currently listed in critical condition.

At around 2 a.m. crews responded to a report of a house fire along Rumble Road near McHenry Avenue in Modesto. Upon arrival, neighbors told the firefighters an elderly man was missing, and likely still in the burning home. After fighting back the dangerous flames, they found the man unconscious inside the home.

The crew rushed the man away from the fire and immediately began to administer CPR. Within minutes the man began to breathe on his own and was rushed to Doctors Medical Center for further treatment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no other injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages.
