Covert Affairs is bulking up for season five.
Body of Proof alum Nicholas Bishop has joined the USA Network spy drama as a new series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The English-born Australian actor will play Ryan McQuaid, a former Navy SEAL turned private contractor billionaire. McQuaid is described as handsome, magnetic and charming; he and Annie (Piper Perabo) first meet in the field as uneasy allies, but as their relationship intensifies, so will Annie’s fears that McQuaid may have a secret agenda.
STORY: ‘Covert Affairs’: Christopher Gorham on Annie/Auggie Rift, Finale and Directing
Covert Affairs picks up after Annie faked her death, changed her identity and went deep undercover in Hong Kong to defeat her biggest nemesis, Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin). The 16-episode fifth season, which kicks off this summer, examines the price Annie will have to pay for this risky maneuver and the implications it will have on her other relationships as she attempts to re-emerge into the world she once knew.
Bishop joins an ensemble led by Perabo, Christopher Gorham, Hill Harper, Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher.
He starred in the first season of ABC’s medical drama Body of Proof and has appeared in CSI, NCIS: Los Angeles, Hot in Cleveland, Necessary Roughness, Castle, The Glades, Past Life, Aussie series Fat Tony & Co. and soap Home & Away. He has two upcoming indies, The Mentor and Stay Then Go.
Bishop is repped by UTA, Management 360 and Australia’s Linsten Morris.
