Reality TV producer Dave Caplan is moving from 51 Minds Entertainment to Lionsgate TV.
The producer has inked a multiyear overall deal with Lionsgate TV to develop and produce unscripted programming through his Trooper Entertainment banner.
He comes to Lionsgate TV following a run at 51 Minds Entertainment, where he served as vp development and exec produced multiple series including Syfy’s Heroes of Cosplay, MTV’s Scrubbing In, Syfy’s Ghost Mine and TruTV’s Cash Dome.

“Continued growth in the area of alternative programming is a high priority for our TV division and we are always looking for terrific partners,” Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs said in making the announcement Tuesday. “Dave is an extremely creative producer and we anticipate a great collaboration.”
Before Caplan’s two-year stint at 51 Minds he worked at Pilgrim Studios, where he developed multiple series including Wicked Tuna.
He joins Lionsgate as the studio has been bulking up its unscripted fare. The studio has partnerships with Roy Bank‘s Banca Studio and Eli Frankel‘s Rogue Atlas Productions, which have resulted in series including TBS’ Deal With It, HGTV’s Flea Market Flip and TVGN’s The Tequila Sisters, among others.
Caplan is repped by WME and McKuin Frankel.
