SACRAMENTO-
Sacramento Police say a man may have attempted suicide by cop.
Around 11:30 a.m. Monday police were called to Seavey Circle for a reported domestic dispute.
Police say several witnesses called 911, including the suspect.
Police say the suspect told operators he was armed and dangerous and asked for police to come.
When police arrived at the Marina Vista Apartments, the man was outside with his hand tucked in his jacket as if he were hiding a gun.
“The police were behind the car and they were saying, ‘put your hands up,'” witness Trey Tyree said.
Police and witnesses said the man was not complying with officers.
“That is when one of the two officers went back to his vehicle, grabbed his duty riffle and came back. That is when the suspect started coming toward the officers again. They were giving commands. The suspect was yelling to, ‘shoot me, shoot me, shoot me,'” Sacramento Police Officer Michele Gigante said.
Police shot the man multiple times in the upper body.
The suspect, who is described to be in his 20’s, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Residents in the Seavey Circle neighborhood say the shooting was the first they have seen in four years.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
