SEOUL — The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) will start regularly distributing arthouse movies in the Asian region, organizers announced Tuesday.
The South Korean film festival in March launched distribution/investment company CAC (Center of Asian Cinema) Entertainment, so that movies invited to BIFF can reach the general public outside of the annual festival period in October.

“We created CAC Entertainment with BIFF funds in hopes that Korean movies could find distribution channels not only domestically but also throughout Asia and the rest of the world,” said a spokesperson for BIFF.
Ahead of regularly distributing titles next year, CAC Entertainment will handle Le Passe, the 2013 Cannes-winning film by Asghar Farhadi that was shown at BIFF this year. It will open across Korean theaters on Dec. 26.
Slated to hit local theaters next year is Gyeongju by Zhang Lu, who won the Funding 21 Award at the 2013 Asian Project Market, BIFF’s signature arthouse film financing event.
