Jared Leto donned a stylish hat for The Hollywood Reporter‘s Nominees Night party Monday.
The Dallas Buyers Club star — and best supporting actor Oscar nominee — talked to THR awards analyst Scott Feinberg on the red carpet outside Spago. When Feinberg asked Leto if he’d swiped the hat from Pharrell Williams, Leto joked: “This is half the hat of Pharrell. He has a five-gallon hat; this is…two gallons.”

Williams — also an Oscar nominee this year for his Despicable Me 2 song “Happy” — drew massive media attention when he donned a tall brown hat for the Grammys last month that spawned its own Twitter account and spurred Arby’s to tweet: “Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back?” (For his part, Williams tweeted back: “Y’all tryna start a roast beef?”)
The Nominees Night party was hosted by Janice Min, co-president/chief creative officer of the Entertainment Group of Guggenheim Media, and Lynne Segall, THR senior vp and publisher. It came hours after Leto and other top talent attended the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominees luncheon.
